Launch of the book by Nikola Balaš

An Ethnographic Chiefdom: Epistemic Arrest and Knowledge Production in Czechoslovak Ethnography (1969–1989), a book by Nikola Balaš was ceremonially launched on 12 February 2025 in Kampus Hybernská, Prague. The book was published by Berghahn Books and is a contribution to the history of Central and Eastern European ethnologies in the socialist era. The launch was hosted by Daniel Sosna, and the discussants were Chris Hann from the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology and Slávka Ferenčuhová from the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
